The Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology is designed to equip you for mission placement, church planting, ministry in the local church, and growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Students can expect to graduate from this course with a deeper knowledge of the Bible and valuable practical skills for ministry both formally and informally. The modules covered include specialisations allowing you to focus on your main area of ministry.
Throughout this course, students will be constantly challenged as they engage in hands-on practical ministry within a Biblical framework. Students studying full-time may complete the Diploma in two years. However, it may also be completed over several years part-time, on campus or as an external student.
There are normally two student intakes per year, at the beginning of 1st Semester (February) and 2nd Semester (July). Training sessions are held mostly in the format of daily classes, however students may expect to attend approximately 3 evening classes per week and 3-4 weekend intensives per year.
The Diploma provides more in-depth module-based training, building on the foundation provided through the Certificate IV. The Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology covers the broad range of competencies identified as important to quality leadership at lay level within churches. Students can expect to learn from hands-on involvement in an extensive range of modules.
As a full-time student you can anticipate being involved in equivalent to 18 -20 hours of class-based training per week, as well as 10-15 hours of study outside of the classroom. All modules have a "practical" component built directly into them. This means that you have the chance to put what you are learning "into practice". As a full-time student, your weekly study load includes training sessions and study time and practical application. It is important to take all this into consideration when planning your study load.
In addition to the above you will be required to:
1. Place yourself under the direct discipling of a mentor chosen by yourself and agreed upon by CALAM Training
2. Actively attend the worship services of your church, and participate in the ministry of your church.
3. Be involved in an ongoing effort to make disciples.
4. Participate in equivalent to a one week ministry field trip.
